Mobile Phone Technology

Question is that, what is GSM? and what is GSM technology ?

What is mobile technology and Benefits?

Mobile technology is exactly what the name implies - technology that is portable. Examples of mobile IT devices include:
    •     laptop computers
    •     palmtop computers or personal digital assistants
    •     mobile phones and "smart phones" - high-end phones with more advanced capabilities
    •     global positioning system (GPS) devices
    •     wireless debit/credit card payment terminals
What is GPS? Basic concept of Globel positioning system(GPS)

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a navigation and precise-positioning tool.
Developed by the Department of Defense in 1973, GPS was originally designed to assist soldiers and military vehicles, planes, and ships in accurately determining their locations world-wide.

How do Mobile Phones Work? Working of Cellular Phone

A mobile phone is really a radio - an extremely sophisticated radio, but a radio nonetheless.

A good way to understand the sophistication of a mobile phone is to compare it to a CB Radio.

A CB is a Simplex Device. This means that two people are communicating using the same frequency, so only one person can talk at a time. By comparison, a mobile phone is a Duplex Device.

Mobile Operating system, What is Symbian ?

Symbian OS is an open source operating system for mobile phones primarily used on Nokia advanced or data enabled smart phones. Symbian OS runs exclusively on ARM processors and has evolved from Psion's EPOC which was developed as a rudimentary operating system for early electronic organizers.

The Psion EPOC OS was refered to EPOC16 beginning in the late 1990's to help distinguish it from the newer 32bit Operating system EPOC32, which eventually became Symbian OS

What is CDMA? Detail definition of CDMA Technology.

Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a form of multiplexing (not a modulation scheme) and a method of multiple access that does not divide up the channel by time (as in TDMA), or frequency (as in FDMA), but instead encodes data with a special code associated with each channel and uses the constructive interference properties of the special codes to perform the multiplexing.

Defination of GSM and What is GSM?

Defination of GSM. What is GSM ?

GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephone system that is widely used in Europe and other parts of the world.

GSM uses a variation of Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) and is the most widely used of the three digital wireless telephone technologies (TDMA, GSM, and CDMA)

    Generations of Cell Phones

Detail discussion on generation of Mobile Phone. Mainly three generation of cellular phone, 1st 2nd and 3rd generation.

     First Generation Cell Phones

In 1983, Motorola unveiled to the world, the first truly portable cellular phone. It was called the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X. It was approved for use in the United States by the FCC. Motorola developed the technology for cellular phones for decades and this particular phone took 15 years to come to market at an expense of over 100 million dollars in research costs
